Special Events

The Society for Handicapped is a private non profit organization; at this time we do not receive government funding for our programs and services. We depend on the generous support of individuals and businesses in our community. Our free durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet experienced a 600% growth from last year; the Snow Skiing Unlimited program saw an increase of participants by nearly 800%; we delivered $200,000 in special needs; we provided 1,500 transportation trips to and from medical appointments and grocery shopping; we funded a sensory room for John F. Kennedy School; purchased two therapy dogs, one for a deaf and hard of hearing class and one for emotionally disturbed children; and funded a technology room for emotionally disturbed children at Riverbank School District.

With this in mind we are constantly looking for new and fun ways to raise money for these much needed and expanding programs.

Please take the time to look at our special events for the year. Consider how you can be a part of the great opportunity to help a child to ride a bike for the first time, to experience the thrill of water and snow skiing or perhaps give the gift of mobility to our neighbor.

You can make these dreams come true by just participating in one of our fun special events. Remember you can make a difference and your generous support is the key to our success. On behalf of the thousands of people we serve……….. thank you!

Fondly,

Carole McFarlane
